Dictionary Art Journal – Halloween

So this is the last Halloween project of the year and I thought I’d film a dictionary art journal page as I haven’t done one in such a long time, so why not kill two ghouls with one stone eh!

For this page I’ve dusted off my Distress Inks which I haven’t used in what seems like an age! I’ve also used my masking fluid too, again another under used resource! The ghost was created using a vellum mask, which I drew out with pencil then cut out with scissors. Such an easy way to create a focal point!

Halloween Mixed Media Canvas

Halloween is almost upon us, time for more devilish and ghostly things to go bump in the night. It’s always been one of my favourite times of year as the seasons change and the leaves begin to cascade from the trees, ghostly foggy mornings greet us as the sun comes creeping over the horizon. It’s magical!

As part of my celebrations of Halloween this year I’ve created a spooky 8×8 mixed media canvas to decorate my walls.  Join me in the video below as I create the canvas from start to finish.

Mixed Media Art Journal Cover

I’m back…did you miss me?

Actually I have been quite busy with my YouTube channel which is why I haven’t blogged for a few days. Normally I like to blog and upload to YouTube at least twice a week normally 4 days apart, but I hit a milestone on my YouTube channel last week of 4000 subscribers, which is a big thing for me, so I have been concentrating on working on some specific content just for that. In the same way, I do blog content that doesn’t go on to my YouTube channel too, so everyone gets a little bit of exclusive stuff from me. I don’t like to think anyone is missing out!

So today I have a process video of me decorating my new 10×10 art journal cover with collage “odds & sods”, texture paste and some stenciling. I’ve sped up the film to cut out some of the repetitive stuff so it isn’t too long.

Mixed Media Halloween Trick or Treat Card

There are times when I’m just the right mood for seasonal festivities, here in the UK we don’t celebrate Halloween as much as the US, but we’re getting there. I wish people would get into the party spirit rather than moan about “another commercial opportunity” It’s not often we get a legitimate reason to dress up in fancy dress and blow out on chocolate and sweets.

I was feeling in a Halloweeny mood, so thought I’d celebrate in my own way! Hope you enjoy the outcome!
