Mixed Media Project – Masquerade 2

IMG_3966
This is another mixed media masquerade mask commissioned for an art store display. It’d pretty similar to the last one I created except this one has a much lighter and pearlescent finish.

IMG_3969 IMG_3968 IMG_3967I have filmed the process again, this time I’ve made sure to include more footage of actually sticking the embellishments onto the mask as I was requested to do by one of my subbies!

Journal52 – Good Advice

IMG_3955Week 20 over at Journal52.com is all about “Good Advice”. My parents have always been firm believers in allowing their children to make their own mistakes and to learn and grow from them. My father always used to say to me when I went out on a Saturday night to party, “if you’re not in bed by 10pm, come home!” which always made me chuckle! My Mother told me the best advice she ever received from her mother was on her wedding day as she was leaving for her honeymoon. Apparently my Grandmother whispered in her ear “Good Luck!”

My art journal page this week then focuses on words, so I’ve used book text underpaper and letter and word stencils in the creation of my page with the addition of a Leonardo Da Vinci “Vetruvian Man” stamp from IndigoBlu. I’ve also applied the use of a honeycombe stencil from Bee Crafty to symbolise hard work and industriousness.

IMG_3956 IMG_3957 IMG_3958As always, all of my supplies are mentioned on screen during the video of my process. I hope you enjoy it. If you’d like me to start listing my supplies as part of my blog post too, please leave me a comment below. If enough people want it, I’ll start to add one with each post.

Rainy Day Fairy – Collage Resource

Whilst browsing the interwebs, I occasionally come across an image that I think may be useful when creating an art journal page. I tend to look beyond what is there and see what “could be” with the content. The photo below is no exception.

Isn’t she beautiful! She’s just so gorgeous as she is…but I just had to Photoshop enhance her in readiness for an art journal page. All I did was digitally cut her out and hand tint her with some vintage style colours and swap her wings for something more airy fairy!

Please feel free to download her by clicking her to get the full size image, then right clicking or whatever it is you do with your computer.

I’d love to see what you create with her, please leave me a comment with a link to your page/post if you do!

Have a creative day!

Journal52 – Outside In…

IMG_3903

We’re playing outside today, literally. I’ve been out in the garden as it’s a beautiful spring day, the sun is shining and there’s barely a cloud in the sky. So what do we do when we’re outside? Look for art journal inspiration.

Over at Journal52.com this week (WK19) Chelle suggests we get outside to art journal. It’s a great idea, but I can’t art journal without all my stash and I can’t really film anything either, so as a compromise, I went out with my camera and took some shots of things that caught my eye.

There’s some great things going on in my garden! Everything is springing into life! Including my imagination!

So, here’s my process video, as always I hope you enjoy it! Remember all my resources are listed and talked about in the video.
