So his is the first “real” art journal page that I’ve done in my 10×10 journal. By real I mean added texture and gel mediums and collage pieces etc etc..I kind of like the shape of the size it’s a 10″ x 10″ journal so is more symmetrical in shape than a traditional 5×8 or 8×10 page sized journal where you really struggle for true symmetry. Most of my pages are balanced, but typically asymmetrical in composition. With an equal sided shape you aren’t really confronted wih those kind of balance problems.
Anyhoo…On to the page itself…I’ve used my “one with nature” collage sheet which is available to buy from my Eysy store and I’m really happy with the way the page evolved. Using the Dylusions paints was lovely as they have such a rich colour and are easy to blend. This page was such a joy to create.

Have a great and creative weekend!

I too, like the 10″x10″ format….A LOT! I’m going to get a pad that size for myself. You’re so talented. I really hope the business side of your art takes off. It is such a huge gift to be able to make money at something you love to do. So much payback in that. And your love of this process clearly comes thru in your videos. Thanks for sharing with all of us! hugs.

Mike – you are one of my favorite art journal artists to follow online! I love your layouts and designs, and watching your process in your videos. (I prefer to hear you narrating during your videos though, rather than all music.) Good luck with your new Etsy shop – your collage sheets are beautiful and if/when I buy a printer, I’ll be purchasing some! P.S. Noticed the Doctor Who book on your bookshelf behind you! Big Doctor Who fan!

I love the happiness of this piece! The colours and art work is beautiful. I have only just started to compile my journal and it is 8.5 x10.5 over a double page spread so not sure that the printed sheets would be small enough for me to use. I’m loving the tissue paper you use. Could I ask if stamping on tissue which ink to use under the Matt finish ? Stazon.
Take care and will be watching again for more inspiration Anne x

Wow! Really beautiful, Mike! I totally enjoyed this video, and what a great idea to share your collages on etsy. The 10×10 size of your new journal is definitely easier on the eyes too. I like the idea of selling your prints, your work would look great on any wall!

I love everything about this page, Mike. It’s always interesting to see your process and see how you build your layers, the order of them and how you ensure cohesion. I love the look of that bubble stencil. It may have to go on my wish list.

Thanks Laura, the stencil is a good one from Dyan Reaveley, I’m hoping to get it in my store soon. Had to have play first though!

I don’t own many stencils as I don’t use them much but I’m always drawn to circles and dots so I think that’s one I would use frequently.
